Affiliate marketing is when you get paid a commission or a percentage for selling an item on behalf of another person. As an example you may get paid 25% of all sales you make from selling products from a clothing business. Affiliate marketing is a popular way for people wanting to earn an extra income working from home.
Businesses use affiliate marketing as a way to assist them in selling their products and services. To do this the business starts up an affiliate program where they allow other people to sell their services and products and in return offer them a commission for any sales they make. Once an affiliate has signed up to start marketing their products and services, they are first given a unique ID number and a website link that is used to track where and who the sale has come from. This ensures that the commissions earned are paid to the correct affiliate.
