Working from home is becoming more and more popular, especially with parents starting up an online business. There are plenty of reasons as to why a parent chooses to work from home. For me it was the challenge of starting my own business along with being able to raise my children and watch them. Another factor was to earn an extra income at the same time.

When I was working full time, I missed out on a lot of my sons developments and I must admit sometimes I do regret it. Being a work at home parent can give you the flexibility to plan your time between your business and family. What parent would give up the chance to work their own hours, from home and at the same time being able to spend time with their children and family .

Being a work at home parent can also save you a lot in terms of time and money. No longer do I need to get up in the morning to rush off to work. It’s great being able to set my own working hours. Imagine not having to start work until late morning and being able to work the hours you want. Because of the increasing advance in technology, a lot more online businesses are becoming more prosperous, so starting up an online business is become a good way to make an income from home.

My primary aim of being a work at home parent is to incorporate my business time with my parenting obligations. Doing this has been relatively easy. I found that getting into a routine fairly early on and sticking to it works. Each morning I make sure my children are attended to and help them prepare for the day. Before I take my son to school I get some of my house work done and usually by around 10am each morning I am ready to start my daily business routine. I still make sure that I take time out on weekends and some times during the week to have some “me” time, spend time with friends along with spending quality time with my family.

Nowadays a great deal of your time is spent working. This gives many people little or no time to spend with those that they love. I love being able to work the hours that I set and having the flexibility to span my business hours throughout the day and night. Working from home gives me some form of control over my working life.
